Tips and tricks
Metal frame houses have been present in Romania since 2007. Since then, the technology has greatly improved. Due to technological limitations at the time, OSB boards were used for cladding the structure on the exterior and a 10 cm expanded polystyrene thermal insulation system was applied by gluing. Glass wool was used as filler and blueboard gypsum for wall finishing on the interior.
Nowadays, the market of prefabricated materials has evolved significantly. The technology allows us to build using the latest generation of affordable materials, such as basalt wool which is a 3x more efficient thermal and sound insulation than expanded polystyrene or glass wool. Additionally, this material is non-combustible and we apply it on the exterior over a layer of fibrocement. We use fibrocement boards instead of OSB because it performs excellently in both humid environments and in case of fire incidents.
